Pearl River Speckled Kings - Field Pics

daniel1983 Jun 05, 2010 04:51 PM

I went out my favorite local spot today and not even 5 minutes into my hike, I spotted this really nice speckled king...probably the nicest I have seen in the wild. The thick yellow bands coming up on the sides was HOT!!

Enough of the talk...time for the pictures.

Some other speckled pictures from the week before last from about 500 ft. further down the road.

....and this off topic picture just because I like it...

There are even more on my blog if you are interested.

I went to a bookstore and asked the saleswoman, "Where's the self-help section?" She said if she told me, it would defeat the purpose.

I do keep some females from this side of the parish....they are nice but nothing like the one in the first picture.

In the wildlife area where those pictures were taken, it is illegal to collect. So I am an observer only out there.

I grew up in New Orleans and Specks were my first snakes! I have a special spot in my heart for them. I still get excited by seeing those Louisiana Salt $ Peppers, lol. Great shots, thanks!

Nice indeed! Specs are highly under rated. I blame the crash of the albino market 20 years ago for that. Its about time they are starting to get some recognition. They can be quite spectacular.
