Flipping Out

snake_bit Jun 05, 2010 11:33 PM

After seeing the Joe M post below, I gathered some pics of some past flips to share with you guys.
To me there is nothing like flipping tin and rocks and the anticipation of whats underneath.

Great pics!

I especially like the one with all the little ringnecks, and the one with the glass lizards. Thanks for posting them!

I agree! It's picture perfect. How hard would it be if you set out to take a pic of two glass lizards in mating process (I'm assuming)?

You guys are so lucky to see all those snakes. I also find it interesting in some of those pictures that snakes of different species are chilling together. Great shots.

>>... I also find it interesting in some of those pictures that snakes of different species are chilling together...

Those pix also show the difficulty of deducing "bonding" when two snakes of the same species are found together. Certainly these different species weren't bonding. I'm not saying kings DON'T bond, as has been argued here. I just haven't seen any persuasive evidence or arguments yet, and pix such as these undermine arguments based on events when two of the same species are found together.

Doug - outstanding post. I love those in situ shots. I am the same as you - love to find piles of tin and love to flip! The anticipation of whats underneath is so much fun. I enjoyed those pics.

Grown men running around in the field flipping rocks and trash, not unlike baseball cards in your spokes but I love it

Some really great photos there Doug!

Was that a really dark easter milk snake, I think about 20 pictures down?

Also, at the end, that's a Black Rat snake with red in it correct? Have you seen that before?

Very cool stuff!

Thx Nathan,
The nice thing about bringing home pics is that you don't have to feed them.
I wish others here would share more pics

I must have missed this one, ha ha. Yeah maybe she had other things on her mind. But seriously Photobucket has a great cropping feature that lets you trim the excess if you know what I mean. You think all my pics are taken so pefectly centered? I love photobucket!....and it's free!

Original picture before cropping.

After cropping, using the edit feature on photobucket.

So trim the fat and show us those pics, lol.

Great post Doug. It's always good to see field shots on KS, and remind us to stay out in the outdoors.
