How long should king snakes 'lock up' for during breeding? And how many times should a pair be bred to ensure babies?

"Lock up" can last a few minutes or several hours. There's no "should" involved - the snakes will do what they do. Only one hookup is needed for a sucessful breeding, although I'd say most breeders I know let their snakes lock up three times or more, as it is generally belived that this allows for a better chance at a fertile clutch.

Copulation is only part of breeding. The snakes cycles have to be active AND alligned so that he is producing sperm and she is ovulating. If not, its good old fashioned sex for no reason!
