I got is at Goungzhou of southern China. I got a Geoclemys hamiltoni too. I hear that there are a lot of Morenia ocellata and Lissemys pintctata. I will visit there a few week later and buy some.

Nice looking galbie. Does it have a black plastron or a speckled one? Looks a bit bourreti-like.

Along the lines of galbs, do you see any/many Cuora galbinifrons picturata anymore in Guangzhou? (see picture of one below or go to http://www.chelonia.org/cuoragallery.htm to differentiate them)

Thanks for web site address. Now I know the different of different C. galbinifrons. My C. galbinifrons's plastron is black. I think it is a C. galbinifrons galbinifrons. However, his face doesn't look like that. I will take more closeup for it. I hope you can help me to indentify it. I saw some C. galbinifrons picturata in Guangzhou. I hope to get some too.

============================

Just to make things more confusing, a recent paper just elevated the various galbinifrons to full species status so it is now...

Cuora galbinifrons
Cuora picturata
Cuoura bourreti

If the plastron is completely black, it is indeed a Cuora galbinifrons (galbinifrons). Facial features can vary a fair amount.

Thanks for the info on the picturata. They've been relatively scarce in Guangzhou the last few years was my understanding. The Cuora galbinifrons galbinifrons have been making up about 90-95% of the "trade" of late.

Drop me a note offlist if you don't mind. Email address is: justagalb@aol.com I'm heading back to China later this year as well as next and would like to get a better feel for the situation in Guangzhou right now before heading over (will be going to Chengdu to work with my colleagues at the zoo there for most of my time there). I can also ID your galbies if you like.
