Any ideas for an empty 20g long?

KenW Sep 22, 2003 11:45 PM

I've had this empty 20 gallon long tank (30"long x 12" x 12" ) since January. Several times I've been tempted to buy some new herp tenants for it, but I've restrained myself. I am getting an itch to buy some new snake, preferably something that could live its adult life in this cage. What would you suggest and why?

I do have some herp experience as currently I have a pair of jungle carpet pythons, a pair of Kenyan sand boas, a pair of crested geckos, and a leopard gecko.

Thanks for your suggestions ahead of time.

I'd reccomend more sand boas. Or maybe rosy boas.

And if you don't want more ground boas... you must be crazy! But I think african house snakes, which are colubrids, stay small enough for a 20 long. Some of the smaller kingsnakes might too. And hognose snakes.

A corn snake!!! Everybody needs at least one. If you buy a yearling, it'll be through with it's jumpy stage and could live happily in a 20L the rest of its life. They're a lot of fun because they're very active and love exploring...pretty exciting to handle! They're also easy to take care of, show a lot of personality, and come in a wide variety of color morphs for very low prices...corn, definitely.
