I have seen and studdied several brands of cages and racks that are out there and this is one that I have done a lot of research about. My business partner bought a few of these and so far I can tell you that he is not totally happy with them. But I will tell you what the problems are so you can asess your own judgement and not mine. We have the 28qt rubbermaids and I believe and extra long rack left from the original 4-6 racks he bought. In only 1 year they have cracked and the boxes are difficult to pull out with the heavier balls. Boaphile racks and cages are made of a poress plastic so urates will and do stick to them and have to be scrubbed off. They are nice looking cages and racks but if they didn't fix these problems then they certianly need to and should. There is another company called Barrs www.barrs.com Doug does a great job and the plastic does wash better. I have had a couple of small barrs cages for quite a while and they work great. I would definatly call them. Animal plastics may be good I have not seen what material they use but if it is the same as Jeffs then they will have the same problem. Poress plastic cracks a lot faster and more easily then extruded plastic just keep that fact in mind when buying racks. The best cages on the planet and racks are Habitat Systems. You need a big wallet for them but they are the best.
I have quite an extensive collection of snakes and cages I Use, Neodesha's, Visions (uhg), Barrs, Wood, and lots of sweater boxes from sterlite, homz, rubbermaid and a few others.
I am always looking for the best bang for my buck and so far when it comse to racks I would list them as follows.
#1. Habitat Systems www.habitatsys.com
#2. Barrs www.barrs.com lease expensive and well built
#3. Freedom Breeder Great racks
#4. Lou from RDR reptiles is designing and building new racks check out www.Ralphdavisreptiles.com and emeil Lou about them.
Lindy has more competition.LOL
#5. Plywood racks or wood racks using 1x1's and 2x1 wood.
Well, There you have it Ladies and Gentlemen.
My top 5 picks for racks. I hope this helps everyone out. And as a side note you can build a reptile rack out of plywood and it will cost between 100 and 150 to build it yourself. So money wise you can always build more with your own hands for less money then by using somebody elses hands if your are inclined with that skill.
