Housing 3 b-pythons together-(for now)

rj1204 Jun 07, 2010 09:18 PM

I built my rack and it is ready except for my flexwatt tape. My flexwatt was suppose to be in last friday so the rack would be 100% complete by Sunday. I bought the snakes Friday and the shipper advised he would send them Monday. I have 3 sub-adult females coming in tomorrow and my heat tape SHOULD be here within the next couple of days. I have a 30 gallon tank set up with under-the-tank heaters, a big water bowl, and large hide. Is it ok to put my 3 sub-adult females int his enclosure together for 3-4 days? They are suppose to be about 1000g each. I know not to feed them together.

My racks are good to go but I only have my old UTH mats (which I think will melt the plastic for sure) as a heat source. I know, I should have waited until my racks were done to get the snakes. Recommendations? Thanks for any advice.

You can house them together for a couple days, or just put them in the rack without heat for a couple days. As long as your house isn't freezing, they will be fine.

Where do you live? I know my apartment has been close to 90 for the past two weeks and I am in CT.

I am in Dallas and we keep the house at 74 (my wife, kids and dogs). I can close off the vent so it may stay closer to 76-78. I'm an idiot for not being prepared and to do this is very not like me. It looks like the heat tape will be here Wed or Thur so I should be able to have them in seperate racks by Thursday evening.

I do have an insulated garage with an air condition vent going into it. It stays a consistant 85 during the day and 81-83 at night. I could put them in seperate tubs with the lids on, put some wood over each tub, and stack them so they cannot escape. Their are two cockatiels in the garage (in a cage of course), would that be a problem for 3 days? Of course the tubs have holes in them. This maybe my best bet.

I'm sure they would be fine in the house, but if you really want to put them in the garage, that should be fine too.
Don't beat yourself up over it. It happens.
Delivery services are never 100%.

It's not like it's Winter and there is no heat for them at all.
Then you could worry.

Also remember snakes are esxape artists b4 you put them in tubs and put wood on the tops. Ball pythons and all snakes are strong and persistent. You may think they can get out and then you go to check on your $1000 investment and its missing. Never personally happened to me just a for instance.

I decided to put 2 of them in the 30 gallon and buy a 20 gallon for the 3rd one.....for now. Thanks for the advice.
