2010 Pituophis Breedings

Yani Jun 09, 2010 10:54 PM

I thought I would share my excitement over what I've got in the incubator this year...

I've got the usual two clutches of Mexican Lined Pines- Pituophis lineaticollis lineaticollis. I love these monsters!

...And another clutch of Mid-Baja Gophers- P.v.bimaris- Sired by the best looking specimen I have ever seen.

But, the big news for me is my patternless annectans project. I've got clutches incubating from my founding wild-caught patternless being bred to his F1 het patternless daughters. I also have clutches from F1 double het patternless albino siblings that were bred to each other.

I have yet to prove out his trait, so needless to say, I will be eagerly waiting for these little guys to pip! Here's a pic of a double het patternless albino Applegate laying...
Sorry for the camera phone pic.

Ahhh that Bimaris is something else, beautiful!

I like that Patternless SD and that giant Lineaticollis too.

Keep up the good work and share some hatching results later on.

Thanks Al.

I'll be sure to keep you posted!

You've been with me since the inception of that project.

No probs John,

You have real quality animals mate!

Sure have and I hope it produces good results for you my friend and you hit on a patternless hatchling or two at the least.

I know from personal experience it sometimes takes years to hit the jackpot with the odds gods and usually when you've just about given up.
It took me the best part of 5-6 years to get the double albino annectans in '08 from total outcrossed parentage.
Last year from the same pair I finally hit what i'd been aiming for from the outset, one male snow from albino hi-red genetics.

All the Best.......AL

Congrats on that snow Al.

Projects like these are definitely labors of love.

Of course the worst possible scenario is that this patternless trait is not genetically inheritable at all! Not likely, but possible. The good news is that I have enough eggs incubating to conclusivelly prove the trait out...

WOW! Exceptional looking Pits. I agree with you on that bimaris! The bimaris (among all south-of-the-border Pits) appeal to me the most. Thanks for sharing the photos.

Yani Jun 13, 2010 11:45 PM

Thanks PitFan.

The Mexican Pits definitely have a special place in my heart....

That's fantastic, best of luck with the eggs. I'd love to pick your brain some time regarding the lineaticollis.
