Double Het Albino Super Stripes!!!!!!!!

conleyherps Jun 10, 2010 09:41 PM

Back in 2003, Ian showed us this boa that was really cool at one of our local snake shows. I told him it reminded me of the Striated boa that Bob and Mike owned. We bought a trio of hets, 2 striped and 1 normal looking animal and never thought too much about it until we produced our first Super Stripes in 2006.

Well, ever since I saw this male hiding under some news paper, I knew he had to start the Albino Super Stripe project.

I left for work this afternoon, and knew the female was about to drop. When I got home, there they were. 20 healthy babies, 8 slugs and 1 twisted up guy. This is the first year we've produced an unhealthy baby from the Super Stripe line. Sorry I didn't take the slugs out before I shot the pictures. I guess I was just to excited.

Thanks for checking them out,
Anthony

Congratulations Anthony , Great Job that's the way to take the pictures of everybody in the Goo.

Some folks think that slugs don't exist because so many people take them out before the pictures

Can't wait to see those Albino Super stripes, this is very
exciting for you I bet ! Congrats

Congrats Anthony. We are super excited for you. We can't thank you enough for the amazing group of superstripes and hets that you sent us. They are truly a severely underrated animal and I think if more people saw the supers and hets in person that this would be a very popular line. Like Larry said, it is always better in our opinion to see the slugs in the pic. We always like to take a goo pic just how we find them or how they land. Congrats again. Pretty wild how much the albino took away from the dramatic aberrancies that the het supers usually have. Was that your first thought?

That was my first thought when I opened the cage. We did get a few striped animals, one very cool stripe. Some were still in the sacks when I removed them, so we will know better soon. I really want to see how their color comes in after they shed a couple times. A few have very nice red saddles and tails.

Thanks for your kind words,
Anthony

I never realized that people removing slugs from pictures was a common occurrence. I knew that a very small minority did it, but it sounds like it's common practice.

That's disheartening. That's like saying you've never had an animal die in your collection (if you've been around a while and have a decent sized collection). Slugs happen to EVERYONE. Why pretend?

No wonder so many newbies come into this thinking they're going to take the world by storm!! So many misconceptions are started and perpetuated, or at least never corrected that new folks to the hobby just don't have a realistic idea of what to expect...

Anthony, Those are really cool! Conrgats! I like the goo shots too. Plugging that awesome super stripe male to an albino is a great way to go ... Good luck with the project!
