Fresh shed pics...

Gorillaunit33 Jun 11, 2010 06:42 AM

Of course my D70 has to be with nikon when i really would like to take some nice pictures but in the mean time. Here's the point and shoot pics of my August '09 male and i think I'll sneak one in of my jan. '10 BCI since she just shed for the first time since birth today , oh and dont worry about the tail peice stuck its verry small and she's being quite protective of it. Every time i touch it to pull it off she swings around looking for a strike it seems. Hopefully better pictures on the way soon.

(i need to get better pictures of her^, her colors are so light)

That tail shed would be very easy to remove while she's distracted coiling on the rat pink if it's still there at next feeding.

I actually tried this, and it doesnt come as a surprise to me, but she fully released the rat. She's doesnt like to be messed with while eating, as i can imagine anyone wouldnt want to be. So i let her be, 10 minutes later popped the lid off my tupperware feeder to check on her, the rat was dead and still constricted she was just sitting there in the S shape ready to hit on the next thing that bothered her it looked like. After about 20 minutes later i checked again and she was finally consuming it.

Today i took her out to remove the stuck shed and it was gone, so no worries. I'm not too educated on the first shed of snakes but beings that it was her first i could imagine that it cant really feel to well for them and maybe makes them more sensitive resulting in her behavior at the time. Either way she has never struck but im ready for it lol. Your right though better now then 9ft from now. She's on an excellent pace for growing though 6 months and already close to 30''. Not bad for a $10 haha, i saw her markings, the eyes and her light grey/silver with a very little amount of black color and i had to have her... i know its just a red tail though, nothing special.
