BLOOD T+'s FIRST SHED

Tom Burke Jun 12, 2010 10:10 AM

This project has been a long time coming for me and was made possible through a breeding loan I did with Derek Yagi in 2005. If I remember right (correct me if I'm wrong), Derek had a pair of original line bloods that were direct descendants from Ron Ste Pierre by way of a litter produced by Jeff Hudson that we agreed to breed with my Nicaraguan T+'s. They were very small and in fact his female blood boa to this day, is the smallest boa I've ever bred!! The resulting offspring (double het blood T+'s) have stayed small and last year I tried with the biggest female double het and didn't have the odds gods on my side!! This year I tried 2 females and both produced litters within a day of each other. They are as nice as I'd hoped and like the Nic T+, I'm hoping will get even better as they mature.

If you've gotten this far.......I'd love to hear ideas on what to breed the double homozygous Blood T+'s with in the future??

Hey Tom, outrageous is an understatement. They are so rich in color they seem like 3D even in the pics. That's what sticking with an idea or dream and following through produces eventually. You obviously have patience most don't. I'm not well versed in the nic's but it would seem that the possibilities are endless. I will bet you have some idea though. Congrats on seeing this through. Boa breeding is in need of some new "blood" and you a a few others are giving it to us. Thanks!!!!!

Tom, those are absolutely KILLER boas!

I think the most obvious choice to plug into them right now is the hypo gene if you're looking to keep it Central American. Also the motley gene.

I don't know what else there is in CA morphs to add to that. Leopard maybe?

After that, "Colombian" pattern morphs like the Aztec and jungle would be GREAT!

Congrats on 2 GREAT litters! Hope to see you, and those smokin hot babies in Daytona!

What's written above is purely my opinion. In fact, MOST of what you read on the internet is someone's opinion. Don't take it too seriously

Those are unreal Tom. Are you guys going with the Diablo boa? I remember Derek had mentioned that but wasn't sure. These animals look like they would hurt your eyes in person.

On the other question, what to breed them to, I would definitely say Leopard. It would be interesting to see what would happen taking the double homo to a Black eyed type 2 anery of yours as well. Or even black eyed type 2 anery motley. Then you got your motleys triple het blood t and black eyed type 2. Who knows what would yield. You would have the patience to find out though. Keep us updated.

Congratulations on 2 wonderful litters of blood t's. It is really nice to see that your hard works has paid off. I agree that Central American hypo's, ghost's, motley's and leopards would be great future partners for them. Out of curiosity what was the litter sizes and ratio of the blood t's my friend?

Tom Burke Jun 13, 2010 06:11 AM

Thanks Doc. The nice thing about CA boas is that even though they are small by comparison to Colombian boas, they have relatively large litters for their size. The mothers of these babies are in the 4 foot range and about 5 pounds, about the size of a stubby rainbow boa yet one litter was 15 with one blood T and the second litter was 9 with 3 blood T 's. It's intersting that between the 2 litters there was only 2 T 's poss het blood.

Thanks for the reply Tom. Great odds as well, especially the second litter. Do you plan on showing them off at Daytona this year? I hope to see you there my friend.

PS: Have you been doing any fishing?

Congrats on a wonderful litter. To see these babies patternless would be awesome but whatever you do with them, you can't go wrong.

WOWSERS!!!! That is awesome. Those are perfect, but there are a couple other CA's that you can do... People have no idea how good some of these CA's with a few tweaks are going to look...

First I just want to STARE at them before you even try to make them better with other genes. They don't look like they need to be improved... MAJOR CONGRATS... Thanks for sharing.

Now those are definitely on my "got to have list", soon as I get caught up!

I can think of a couple different "mind blowing" combos with those, but you'd have to send me a male and I'd show you! That way I'd at least have a head start with one of the ideas... lol

Besides, you've gotten this far with your own creativity, so I'm sure you couldn't possibly need to much help.

I know of one co-dom color morph to possibly cross with one of those beauties or with one of the more select co-dom pattern morphs, carrying the Hypo gene.

Either way they don't need to much help, in the spectacular department and like you said I'm sure they'll only get better!

Huge congrats on your hard work and results! Nice pics too!

There are no words good enough to describe those babies...or the look on my face when I opened your post

One heck of a combo! They are perfection as is, but hypo would be awesome.

Thanks for sharing, and congrats!
