If I wanted to start breeding someday...

Astourna Jun 14, 2010 02:24 AM

...Would getting a lesser and a spider be good first investments? I wouldn't be in it for the money, even though it's nice. I'm in it mostly because those are two of my favorite "basic" morphs and I also want a lesserbee and some other high end morphs but I couldn't really afford them out of pocket. So I figured I could make them myself and sell the rest of the babies I don't want/need. Or is my thinking flawed?

I realize that breeding isn't a sure thing and that slugs, good eggs gone bad, and other general problems are part of the game.

I say get what you want. If you want a spider and a lesser...do it.

Thanks. I was more or less curious about whether it was a feasible thing.

It's not a terrible start.
Lesser bees are very nice.

If those are your two favorite base morphs, and you have the money to spend on them, then go for it. It's always good not to invest a ton of money until you're sure you can breed the species, and the pair you're talking about is reasonably affordable for you to get your feet wet. Plus, everyone loves a bee.

That would be a great choice especially if those are two of your favorite Morphs. Making the Lesser Bees would be great and as you said you can either sell them to buy other morphs you like or want to add and you can also trade them off to someone for something else you like. You know you could trade smeone a Lesser Bee for something like a Super Pastel and a Pinstripe or that kind of thing and then with just those two you can make several more morphs using them and adding in your Spiders and Lessers. Sounds like a great way to build the numbers up. I am sure you will get several different answers on what to buy next or trade for. But whatever you do, Get what you like. Jay
