Arabesque Poss. Double het Super stripe&

STUART Jun 16, 2010 12:49 AM

This is an Arabesque I had born a few weeks ago. She is possible het Super Stripe and Possible het albino. It was kind of an accidental breeding. This female got some of the striped influence from the Super Stripe. The gene tends to throw partial striped babies even though it is a simple recessive trait. Any how it looks promising that the stripe might be compatible with the arabesque gene and maybe a super striped arabesque might just have two racing stripes down the back. Time will tell.

Looking nice Stuart. Was she the only arab in the litter that had any striping like that? Did you hit on a male arab like that to take back to your het superstripe female? The superstripes are awesome brother. Is this girl from the arab het albino male right?

I didnt get ANY males because this was an ALL female clutch! Amazingly her last clutch contained only 1 or 2 males. So I am not sure whats going on with that. Maybe since I kept her at lower temperatures at the beginning of the pregnancy, who knows.

This was the only arabesque that had any striped influence. I got a couple of cool patterned normal ones, like a het leopard somewhat, then a normal partial striped (see pic).

Yes this was from the het albino arabesque male. I actually only had him in with the female for two weeks at the very beginning, then I put her offspring male in from a couple of years ago. He is a striped orange tail hypo poss. het super stripe. I wanted to produce hypo super stripes. He bred her for two months and you can imagine my surprise when I checked under the paper and found arabesques however it was a neat surprise any how.

That arab has a killer pattern going on, looking foward to seeing what the superstripe arab will look like.

That's great Stuart! I definitely think the arabesque super stripe will be killer.

You have really produced some nice animals over the years. Some of the newest morphs and combos have been produced from accidental breedings. It's very possible that this could be one of them. Definitely something to follow up on with a future breeding of the same genes. These breedings keep the hobby fun and full of head scratching! Thanks for sharing.
