I admit I have an attraction to water snakes! I used to see alot of green water snakes around here but don't see them very often anymore. I've been tempted many times to keep a pair. They get huge and are relativley calm after a short time and of course tons of live babies, lol.

I've always wanted to delve into those - and Redbelly Water Snakes too. Nice pickup!

Its hit or miss around where I find these guys as to their coloration. The first one captured this season was do dark and had so little white you could almost not tell it was a broadbanded. It still had an awesome dark brick red patterned belly though. I kept it a few days and then released it back where captured. The larger one I sent to Jeff recently has nice bone white bands that are very distinct from the darker banding. Not super wide, but nice. It was so nice looking IMO that I took it home LOL. The baby was captured because it was decent looking and so young. It will hopefully mature into a nice representative of broadbandeds. I wish we had redbellys here. We do have yellow bellys, but they are NASTY!!!!

Thanks Tim! I've always liked them but up to now I had only seen pics of these! To me have a venomous look to them, almost like a water moccasin or something.Hey, If I have any luck later down the road maybe I can hook ya' up! Take care! Jeff

imagine what they look like at 10:00PM on a very dark black top road!! I always do a gut check approaching the watersnakes on that particular stretch of road we road cruise and herp at night LOL!!

Man,I can see why you'd do that!If these guys were native to my area they'd probably be extinct by now.Your little black was a "moccasin" where I work! Jeff
