Photo Box Picture....Been fine tuning.

thunderpaws Jun 17, 2010 09:40 PM

Here is a picture of one my first bred albino babies. She is gorgeous and weighed 90 grams out of the egg. She is being held back and I think she is amazing. Here is a pic of what I think will be a final light setup for my photo box.

Thanks for looking,
Bill Rubin

Looks like you might need a higher wattage lightbulb. What are you using there?

Yeah,

I am sure I could get it better, but I am using two 125 watt natural light bulbs totaling 250 watts. The camera is a Panasonic digital about 250.00 new. I just only have enough resources to put that together. I know if I went out and bought a more expensive set up it could improve the pics, but I am personally happy with what I am seeing. Is there a way of going to higher wattage light bulb without breaking the bank? I do appreciate the feed back for sure.

Thanks,
Bill Rubin

Wow, your light box must be pretty large to need so much wattage. How large is the light box? Do you have the bulbs in metal domes so the light will be concentrated toward the box?

I do not think it is that big. It is 15" X 15" square and yes I have two domed lamps. I am still messing with it, but I really think it is showing the animal well. I have tried many different lighting set ups with it and this has really yielded the best results for the quality of the camera and lighting backgrounds. I do not use photo shop and do not intend on doing so. When I was on the purchasing side I could always tell when a photo was doctored up and it totally turned me off.

Thanks again,
Bill Rubin

No, the purpose of a good photo box is so you won't be tempted to use Photoshop, I think. Surprising your picture is so dark with so much lighting in a little box. Mine is probably half again bigger than yours and I only use one light on top. Here is a picture of our male Pewter in my light box:

Yes,

That is why I posted it. But my daughter and I think the pic is fine using it. All we did was hit the feature in Iphoto to enhance the picture to a more contrasted background. I love how it came out. The funny thing was when we messed with the snake pic itself we could make it easily look like a lavender which really weirded us both out. I am just learning as I go and from what I know I think touching up a background is fair game. Taking pics of baby snake is fun and addicting. Thanks again for your help, and your honesty.

Yea. I see no problems just giving the background a little enhancement as long as the snake in the photo isn't messed with.
