Cane/Marine/Gaint Toads (Ohio)

Lonny Sep 23, 2003 11:16 AM

I have decided that I'm going to order some Bufo marinus's from a herp dealer. It seems that it costs as much to ship several as it does to ship one, so I'll be getting a small heard. I may not keep all of them. If anybody is interested in them within driving distance of Canton Ohio, let me know. The cheapest I found them for was 5.00 apiece if I order more than 5. Shipping is 40.00. I will sell them for what they cost me. I'm not looking to make any kind of a profit, I would like to just recover my cost. Probably around 10.00-15.00 per (maybe less). Let me know! I just got an Email, it looks like the ones he has are about 4".

How to get your wife to like toads; 1.Get a male toad. 2.Get him to hug your wifes wrist (amplexus). 3. Tickle him so he chirps in protest. 4.Say "Awww, he likes you". Note; Make sure he pees first or you may receive bodily harm during this procedure.

Lonny, hey, I'm Alex.

My froggy-friend Heather just told me to post here because you were looking for a cane toad... although it does seem you have found one!

Anyway, just incase you or anyone else is interested... I live in Miami and we find Marine toads to be a huge nuisance. Basically because they eat everything and are dangerous to our animals, but I never had too many problems with them until they basically tore down everything in my yard to landscape and now these things are out with no where to hide (and I don't want my dog finding them).

So, yesterday I caught a 5" Marine toad and was asking if anyone was interested in it. My idea is for whomever is interested to pay shipping (I don't care what company or anything) and that's it. My zip code is 33173 so anyone could find their own price and all I care about is getting these toads to homes that will actually want them and out of my yard.

I only have one right now, but these things are everywhere so anyone who's interested is only doing Miami a big favor! Thanks

I was the one who told her to post to you. It's so funny that you just posted about the cane toads!!! Anyway, USPS ships next day to most places if not by 10 am on the second day. I've shipped my Cubans thourhg them and they've made it in perfect condition. It's usually only about $20 to just about anywhere. Florida to Ohio would be under $20. I believe $17.95 for up to a 3 lb box.

Thanks Heather! I just sent cheshiry a message about the toads. Hopefully we can work something out and I can save a little $$ and get my toads.

Thanks for your help. I hope that soon I'll have a small herd of large toads.

Awesome, I rarely check my yahoo email that this thing mails to, but I'll check it now then

The toad seems really healthy, but it just hasn't eaten the crickets I've given it yet (although I haven't checked since nightfall). I can probably get some pics tomorrow.

Lonny, I didn't see any text on the last email you sent me.

Either way, I'm going to wait until it rains during the day so that I can catch more Marines afterward. Lately it's been raining kind of late and I'm not fond of mosquitoes and crazy roaches

Just out of curiosity... do you think it would work if you sprayed the yard with the hose? I'm just asking because I've noticed that here at our apartment complex, the toads seem to come out while the sprinklers are on.

It would work if the sprinklers were on... and it rained today, but I wasn't home
