What the heck are these?

waspinator421 Jun 18, 2010 02:52 PM

So I was cleaning up Sable's bin, as she did a great job of making it gross really fast. I removed all the newspaper, and was in the process of wiping out the leftovers that wasn't caught in the newspaper when I came across these. At first I just found one and didn't think too much of it, as I have seen jelly-like stuff with poo on occasion. But then I found another identical one. I didn't notice if there were more in the newspaper, as I wasn't looking for anything when I wadded it up.

My only thought is that they might be really small undeveloped ovum that she passed for some reason? She is a really big girl, so these are super tiny in comparison to her. About the size of peas, and squishy.

I put my hand in the shot for size comparison.

Any thoughts?

I suppose they could be unfertilized ovum.

Tater tots????

Dunno, maybe small unfertilized ova, I had a litter one time with normal and small babies and slugs. But not that small, about half normal size.

My guess is that you are correct and they are undeveloped ova. They look to be about the same size as the smallest of the ones that arrived with my 5/28 litter, only minus the "string" connecting them. I would watch that boa closely for a while in case she is trying to pass anything else.

Aubrey,
...I have seen little masses like that inside the oviducts with full size masses. I do not know what happens to cause these smaller masses to be produced.
