Albino Nelson

DISCERN Jun 19, 2010 04:28 PM

I really like these snakes! Here is a recent pic of my 1999 male albino nelson. What is a trip is that in the last 3 years or so is when he developed the yellow in his pattern.

That's a really nice amel Billy!

It is thought that some snakes (and other animals too) have a much greater ability to retain carotenoids in the xanthophores from the food they eat than others do. This is one of the reason some individuals have a tendency to express such a high amount of yellow to their coloration much later on in life, that otherwise probably would not.

I really like the yellow one's alot to be quite honest!

Here is a link that explains a bit of what I am talking about.

Thanks!!
The personality seems to be very calm with all of the ones I have held and seen. Mine has always been a great pet.

To me one of the oddest things is that the yellow color actually shifts. When the snakes hatch, the white bands touch the red ones. But for the high-yellow examples, the white bands eventually turn yellow and the yellow bands switch to white.
