hi all,

my name is aimee and i've been researching a lot about leopard geckos for the past month and am really excited to get one. i don't plan to buy it until june 2004 because of a housing extension that will be done on my house (my room will be bigger so i have more room for a few tanks). as a beginner, is it recommended to start off with ONE leopard gecko and not any more if i plan to breed? i've read this forum, as well as the archived ones, and some newbies already want to start breeding... but i'm thinking it might be difficult because of pricing, food for all the geckos, and individual care for each of them. hopefully you guys can leave some tips about leopard gecko care, even though i read all the care sheets i could find @ google.com, yahoo.com, kingsnake.com, and ask.com! thanks

aimEe

i started out with 3 geckos. 2 females, and 1 male, and bred them my first year, on accident. other then the accidental breeding, it didnt seem to me that 3 geckos was too much harder then 1. if you want to breed, you only need 2 geckos, a male and a female. i recommend, that if you do want to breed, do not breed normals. it will be hard to find outlets, as soooooo many people already breed them, and everybody and their dog has atleast 1. thats just my opinion, but i feel pretty strongly about it. i consider it to be like breeding dogs when you know nothing about it, there are already enough unwanted homeless puppies in the world.
