07' Super Aztec Sires a Litter....!

AndrewPotts Jun 19, 2010 07:41 PM

On 6-15-2010 an 04' Albino female bred by a 07' Super Aztec had a litter(107 day's POS) of boas that produced 30+ slugs and 8 babies of which 7 were Aztecs and 1 was an Albino(normal). The Albino hadn't absorbed all it's yolk and when found was dead. One Aztec had a little yolk left and was barely alive when found(died the next day), the rest had absorbed the yolk and looked ok and are doing fine. My personal opinion on the Aztec and Albino not surviving is they were hurt badly by the albino female. She went nuts inside here cage and had scooped everything into a nice small pile of goo, newspaper, slugs and crushed slugs and baby snakes at the front of the cage almost dead center. We literally had to dig through the pile to find 4 of the 8 babies. So I guess in the greater scheme of things having the Albino in the litter sucks big jamama. The 04' Albino female that had this litter had her last litter(all slugs) in late 2008 and was bred only by 05' Aztecs(colony breeding). That's about all I can think of info wise to help solve this riddle but always open to any helpful input from the masses. Take care and thanks so much for the help. Andrew

Congrats on proving your aztec a super. Was this one of the patternless ones or were those/that a female? Either way absolute congrats on a great achievement. Hopefully soon we can talk an aztec or hytec. Full litter of aztecs het albino not bad. What do you make of the albino? Was it a female?

Thanks for the positive feed back. In reference to the Albino from the litter, we should have some solid info on what's happening in a few weeks. In closing a photo of the 07' Super Aztec breeding the 04' Kahl Albino late last year. Take care. Andrew

Congrats on that litter! Looks like we're both in the race for the kahl sunglow aztec...or suntec?!
sounds to me like you bred that female to a male prior to introducing that super aztec. Even if it was up to a year prior to that, she may have retained some sperm meaning that two males sired that litter...which also explains the fact you saw an albino and also the fact that this albino was not an Aztec.

I've had a female hold sperm for just over a year and drop a litter without having any males in with her for that entire year. Although the litter produced no viable young, it definitely proved that females can retain sperm that long.

Let us know if this is the case..otherwise i'm at a loss.

Congratulations on proving the super! I cant wait to see the Aztec into all the different colored morphs out there (i know what they look like with a little orangetail mixed in). Cant wait to see what else you are waiting on. Continued success with your breeding season my friend.

Congrats my friend!!
I am very puzzled by the albino otherwise I would say the Aztec is proven co-dominant!!
Anyway we wish you all the best and we will spread the Aztec's over Europe.
Cheers,
Eric Roza
