Hey i was wondering if you guys could help me out right quick, a local breeder in my area offered me pairs of 100% het pieballs for 300$ a pair. So i was wondering if thats about market price or if thats a steal.... Any information is appreciated. thanks in advance!

The snakes in the picture in that last post is my het albino and a reg female. my bad.

I would say its NOT A STEAL but he is not stealing from you either. Have you checked out the prices of the breeders here on KingSnake. That should give you a pretty good idea where he stands on the price he is asking from you.

hmmm.... yea ive checked out some on here but i havent found anything for under 450 a snake, so i figured 300 was a pretty good deal for me... but thanks

I agree ...it's a GOOD price for A 100% pair of pieds, but if it's 2 normals that's a major ripoff. So the question is do you trust the person selling them???? Chris Hall

$300 for a het pied pair...I would say its too good to be true...at least compared to Canadian prices for het pieds... males go for about $300..but females typically are still around the $1000 last time I checked. But I haven't checked prices for about a year or so..

WoW, Can I bring all of my het Pieds to Canada ? 2 years ago I bought a female 100% het for Pied female from Paul the Pied Peddler for $300 and he gave me the male 100% het for free(the female is now 1100 and the male is 900 grams respectivly). The last three baby female 100% hets I bought were purchased for $250 each(one is about 700 grms and the other two are right about 300 grms. Maybe patience will pay off for you. I have since purchased 5 66% het for pied females from people I know and trust, with them all being between 600 and 1300 grams for somewhere in the neighborhood of $300 each. I guess you cant scream to loud about paying $300 for a pair of 100% hets. Good luck with them. Jay from Sunny AZ

i mean thats the only thing im worried about because it did seem kind of like why is he selling them so cheap? but i mean if it is true then its a good deal if not then i got ripped off. i mean its a gamble, and i think i might take the chance... would you take the gamble?

Dont take the gamble...... Three years of, raising up time, to save a couple hundred dollars, is not worth it...contact a reliable breeder and have the satisfaction of knowing for sure...

Man, I have to agree. HELL NO I would not take the chance. Unless I knew the guy, like he was my best friend knew him, then I wouldn't trust him. Spend the extra money for a reputable breeder and shipping to make sure you get your 100% hets. Say you did take the chance. Like the guy said earlier, “You have to wait three years to breed them, all their food, bedding and other supplies for that amount of time.” Then you finally get to the big moment of breeding, her laying eggs,then eggs hatch and all you see are normals. Three years down the road you realize you got screwed and the guy didn't even spit on it. What you bought for $300 was really only worth $30 and the guy you bought from made a 1000% profit. With recessive morphs I would only trust reputable breeders when it came to 100% hets. Spend the extra $150 - $300.

Hey here is something to consider. If you get 2 hets and breed them together your chances are only 1 out of 4 that you may produce a visual anyways. There is a fairly well known story about Ralph Davis breeding 2 hets together for 3 different years before he produced a visual from them. If your buying babies dont get your male right away anyways. Buy one or two females and wait for a year or two feeding them well to see how they are growing and in 2 years buy a visual male. They should be a bit cheaper by then and your probablility of producing visual Pieds goes from 25% to 50%. Your females will average 2 to 3 years old before they will be breedable anyways so why feed a male for 3 yrs when you can get him cheaper later on and breed him to your ladies after a year. Just a thought. Jay

If he's local he should be able to show you the visual piebald breed-stock he used to produce them and he should provide his own signed photo ID guaranteeing their genetics. If he got them from a reputable source then he should have the original documentation guaranteeing their genetics that you should verify from the original breeder. If all he can offer is stories about who or where they came from, then spend your money elsewhere. If you are patient and call around, you will probably be able to find what you are looking for in that price range.

Hey Paul Im glad you chimmed in. My girl I got from you 2 yrs ago in Phx will be breedable this next fall and I picked up a visual male Pied from a guy up your way last summer or fall. Cant wait. Thanks so much for your helping me out with that deal on her. I have since picked up 3 more 100% females and 5 66% females. Should be some nice snakes being made this fall.
