Hey Greg M.

I just had an idea. What do you think of giving us all a "play by play" of your Hognose egg incubation in the S.I.M. container. You know with pics, ratios, humidity levels, temps etc. etc. You've been talking about them for a while and it could make for some interesting posts.

Will you be slinging SIM's at White Plains in July?

Being that this is my first hognose breeding I did deliberately, I planed on keeping you guys updated anyway... LOL

I will be keeping careful track of what goes on as I do with any species I put in these containers... I will be more than happy to share all data I collect as it rolls in...

As of today the eggs are incubating at 81.2 degrees and the humidity level in the container is up at 97%... 8 out of the 12 eggs are glowing red as of today and the remaining are a bit yellow when candled... The female is young and it is her first time laying eggs so I was not even expecting close to that... I am pretty happy to say the least... LOL

Thanks for your interest D... I will be at the WP show so if you are there come over and hang...

I'm interested to compare what you have going on with the deli cup in the middle method I used this year..I think my hatch rate should've been higher and plan on trying a SIM next time around..

I'll see you there.

The SIMs work. Though my first eggs that are going to hatch in them are Laticinctus ratsnakes, they eggs have done wonderfully. Right next to eggs not in SIMs that I've had to fiddle with a bit to keep them going strong. For anyone thinking they could throw together the same idea, sure, but you can't match the total package. The SIMs are easy to use in a pinch, go together fast without any thought, and the entire container is great for incubating even if you don't use the "no substrate contact" method.

Just waiting for a little deeper model. Would have used them on some other colubrid clutches, but the eggs were laid in a pile and the lid on the SIM doesn't have enough clearance. That's how I know they are good containers even if you don't use the grate, and do it the old fashioned way, lol.
