Something or wishful thinking?

Kevin Earley Jun 22, 2010 06:52 PM

I guess only time will tell for sure.

This pair just hatched and were the product of a Yellowbelly male to an "odd" female. It was my first attempt at breeding her as she was a "slow" grower but she gave me 4 eggs this year. So I ended up with these two and two normals.

These two don't look like any Yellowbellies I have seen before. Any opinions?

It appears that they have the Yellowbelly trait from all of the flames and the clear belly. The male Yellowbelly looks nothing like these in pattern or belly appearance.

Any thoughts? Seen anything like these before? Thanks in advance.

The female adult does have a "Fire-ish" belly although dorsally I wouldn't have thought Fire.

Time will tell.

Kevin,

Those look awesome. There might be another gene in play. I would hold back the male and breed it to the female in a year or so to find out for sure. I hatched a couple that look very similiar 2 years ago but still have not proved anything out yet on ours. Keep it up!

very slow. only 2 clutch in the incubator as of now and they both went in within the last 2 weeks. It is going to be a very late season for me here. I have another 10 or so clutches due but I am begining to think they don't want to lay.

interesting--It looks like you may have some kind of double codom there--does not look like just a pretty yellowbelly

Kevin Earley Jun 23, 2010 08:29 AM

but didn't know for sure. And I guess I really won't until I prove or disprove it.

The funny thing is when "kinderman" suggested Fire influence, the female does have the belly of a Fire although dorsally she doesn't "scream" Fire.

Only time will tell.

Congrats on those Sentinels. They are hot!!
