Yeah, I've seen those pics. My friends didn't believe it til I showed them. I never realized black ratsnakes got big enough to eat rabbits. Do you think it's a normal sized black rat, or one of the larger ones (I know they had one that grew to like 8 feet or something)?
While I was tracking black rats this summer I came across several individuals that had fed in the past 24 hours- their gastric region was swelled to 2-3 times normal size. I also came across a female that measured in at just over a meter- about 4 feet or so- eating a monster field rat (so big I'd never think of feeding it to a ratsnake that size- it definitely qualified as 'jumbo'). They never seemed to have any problem whatsoever with digestion, though they sure didn't move much for a few days!

I have seen some in central Georgia that looked like black Pythons! Not just long...But amazingly robust...

My long term captive black rat eats 2 large rats weekly and would eat a 3rd if I gave it to him.
