Tell me about lotion on Silkies

I spoke with a dragon breeder this week and Silkies came up in conversation and he said they have to rub lotion on all their Silkies. Seems like a lot of work for a big breeder. Is that a practice everyone does with Silkies or is this an exception to the rule?
