I woke to a nice surprise this morning. Here's a pic of the female, Applegate San Diego, and one of my favorite snakes in the collection.

I purchased this male from Jason years ago. What always impresses me about "normal" San Diegos (esp this one) is that as babies they are so drab but I'm so impressed with how this one developed into such a colorful adult. He is het Applegate and for some strange reason this is the first year he actually produced for me. Definitely one of my favs!

I cannot believe how huge her eggs always are. This is her third breeding in 4 years and she matched last years clutch of 7 eggs. Man, they are huge! Now, the hard part--waiting...

WOW! Not that far from a normal and I'll bet there are a few wild populations out there that lean high yellow. Love those annectens and yours is an awesome example. Whet the gophers lack in size, they more than make up in details of color and pattern...

I totally agree. Normal annectens are one of my favorites and the reason I started into pits. For me, they are a tough snake to beat for a nice pet.
