I finally hatched VPI Axanthic Spiders!

holdemwhat Jun 27, 2010 12:13 PM

I've wanted to produce an Axanthic Spider since 2004 before the first one was even hatched. I knew this was going to be an amazing combo and I have been waiting for the day to hatch my own... This season was my first shot at it, so here it goes...

I bred a Spider het VPI Axanthic to a Het Axanthic female earlier this year and only got 3 eggs... They hatched on the same day as the Spider x Clown clutch I had a couple of weeks ago. I hit 0.1 Axanthic and 1.1 Spider possible Het Axanthic... Not bad odds for 3 eggs, but no Axanthic Spider

Pic was taken before the second spider came out...

I had another clutch of 6 eggs due a couple of weeks later from the same Spider het Axanthic X Visual Axanthic female. Well, they've hatched and I couldn't be more happy!

I ended up with 1.0 Het Axanthic, 0.1 Spider het Axanthic, 0.1 Axanthic and 1.2 Axanthic Spider!

Here they are!

I can't stop staring at these little guys! Hope you all like looking at them as much as I do!

Awesome!!! I really like Axanthic Spiders, just one of the many projects I don't have room to get into myself but I love looking at photos of other people's. Thanks for sharing and congrats on the great odds! Hope we can all get so lucky this year.

A picture of your visual Axanthic? We so rarely see pictures of adult morphs and I think the way the axanthics color up is interesting.

Congratulations on your clutch and hitting the odds spot on with BOTH sexes!

Outstanding! That little girl who is "just" an axanthic is one of the best I've seen. Congrats.
