Hi, I want to add a white lined gecko to my classroom. Was just wondering if its bite was as painful as a tokay? My students will be cleaning and looking after it and I dont want them to be scared of it.

The bite does sting a little bit, but nothing like a Tokay. The tokay mouth is much larger than the Whiteline. Whiteline geckos are great to look at and keep. They lay eggs on the glass, making it easy to observe hatching. What a joy to have a kid discover it during class. Would be a good story to tell mom. What grade do you teach? Also, how old of Whitelines are you getting? What state are you in? I have CB born babies. Best of luck.

White lined? are they a Phelsuma? If not what do they fall under, thanks!
The scien is Gekko vittatus. They are much like the tokay gecko.
Are they as large and aggresive as the tokay? I have a 29gal i need to fill, and i've been looking for something new to keep, thanks for all the help.
They are not as robust as tokays. I keep three in a 29 gal although you should only keep them in pairs. They do nicely in a fully planted terrarium. They are not quite as agressive as tokays, but they will bite. They reproduce very easily.
Thanks for the reply. They seem like they would be a good addition to the classroom. I teach grade 7 in Ontario, Canada. The pair I am looking at are around 1 year old. Both are CB.
