babies not eating

jeffk Jun 28, 2010 09:51 AM

out of the 3spiders and 2 normals, one of each wont eat. i first offered frozen thawed fuzzies and they showed not interest. then i put each snake in a paper bag with a live fuzzy and thats when some of them ate. the other 2 didnt. i then brained the fuzzies and left them over night in the bag. nothing..... whats next?

Fuzzies are too small!!! You can go hopper up to small adults! Fuzzies don't offer enough movement!

I assume you are feeding them rats if you are offering fuzzies. You can try a live mouse hopper maybe a very small adult if they aren't interested in the fuzzy rat. The increased movement and faster heart rate may excite the snake more. It's not that hard to get them back on rats that young either.

I also assume the snakes already had their first shed....if not, don't worry about trying to feed them until after they shed.

There yolk sac serves them well for a while after there shed they do not need to eat right after they shed. Remember they need to feel secure i would not handle them right before feeding them a meal, I usually leave them in there shoe box and drop a hopper mouse in and if they do not eat i will wait three to four days before i offer again. good luck

Small adult mice. Most of my babies pound them with no problems.

these babies are pretty small. i think adult mice would be too big. i was worried feeding them something that could harm the snake. im gonna try feeding a live hopper in a week.

Ok people. Im in a similar position. memorial day I had 6 babies hatch. 5 hets and 1 albino. Of course all have eaten except the albino. I have tried everything I can think of and nothing. Only option that is left is force feeding. I REALLY dont want to do that. Please help me. Of course its the first morph and the one that I have been waiting for for yrs that causes problems.
Thanks
Cody
