Does anybody sucessfully keep an adult BCI Boa in a Rack System with Tubs, or know anybody that does? If so, what Rack System are you using? I would like to stay with a Rack System if possible. Thanks...

I made this 4 foot wide rack system and it has lots of air flow around it and it is on wheel so you can move it around when you need to. I used a wire shelving system and the Sterilite 15 qt. tub # 1754 for baby boas and the Sterilite 74 qt. tub # 1969 for sub adults and boas about 6 feet long and less than 12 to 15 lbs. The 1754 tub measures 17 inches x 11 inches x 6 - 3/8 inches and the 1969 tub measures 44 inches x 19 - 3/4 inches x 6 - 3/8 inches. I also used 4 inch flexwatt along the back of each shelf to heat the tubs.
Set up like this picture cost me about $350 with 4 inch X 44 inch flexwatt on each shelf. I had to buy 2 wire shelving set ups to make this one. The shelving cost around $80.00 each at Sam's club.

Take care

when i first looked at your rack i laughed at it but now that i look at it in detail thats pretty friggin smart in fact its genius but the thing i would worry bout is if there was a short in the heat tape or in the heating system shock the hell out of ya the snakes look happy it looks very cool and functional i am thinking of looking at the fusion tubs though they have windows for peaking lol and i think they are bigger i know they have a six foot tub coming out soon i cant wait i think im going to design my monster rack around those but that was a cool idea and it helped me a little on my quest to build a kick but rack i think i would use some of that wood 1/8 shower board from home depot to isolate the tubs a little
cool idea there for us working class breeders lol if you know of any place that sells bigger tubs that would be nice i like visions just not the 270 price tag for each

Hi Ray,
The heat tape is mounted on 1/4 inch masonite with aluminum tape. The electrical wires are solder, silicone caulk and electrical taped in place on the flexwatt. So there is no wires or flexwatt tape touching the metal rack. This way there is no way for you or the snakes to get shocked. The masonite also helps the tubs slide out easer when you want to open them.
Take care

You can get Metro shelving that is 72 inches long by 24 inches wide. There MetroMax shelving mat is a reinforced polypropylene so no metal shelving to worry about.
Take care,

The Vision V-70 is perfect for males in my opinion. Or there are other rack systems out there ARS,Freedom Breeder, with the same size racks and tubs.
I bought a rack from Jeff at boaphileplastics.com
I have my 3 boas in it right now but in the future I plan on using it as a permanent male boa enclosure. I am always increasing my boa collection and hope to have 4 males eventually that will all live in this rack. The tubs in the rack measure 34 inches long, 16 inches wide, and 5.5 inches tall. Good enough for a boa up to 6 feet. I highly recommend the rack. It is very nice and very big. Well worth the money.
Hey John,
It was great talking with you today....Here is a link to what I have been using for years....
Or just go to www.ajfreptiles.com
drop down and click the link to my old site and photos...
There you can see scroll down to number 7 and check out the large underbed tub boxes...they work great and are a great price too.
