preparing wood?

zillamonster Sep 23, 2003 03:55 PM

i went around today and got some big pieces of wood from the hurricane aftermath for use in our reptiles cages. i'm wondering if there is any preparation necessary before putting them in with the reptiles. i've heard of baking smaller pieces in the oven, but these are way too big for that. they're fresh, solid branches taken from healthy trees that were knocked down by the hurricane. any input appreciated. we plan to use them for a ball python, crested geckos, golden gecko, and of course our iguana.

You could bleach it and rinse it. Personally, I don't think my boys will get sick or infested from wild-caught wood.
