our pool has really taken a turn for the worst with the economy and lack of funds, but in 5 years, this is a first for us.. I've decided he has to go.. if I can't swim in there, he can't either...

That is cool. I understand your mentality. That has to be a breeding ground for mosquitos. Do you put any chemicals or anything to keep mosq's from using your pool as a breeding haven? I lived about 5 or 10 miles north of West Palm Beach. Me, my cousin and a couple of friends rebted a four bedroom house in a gated community. We had a “scenic” pond in our back yard and we had a 5' or 6' gator that lived in it. It was so awesome. Then someone called and [bleep]ed about it and someone came and removed it. When we are the ones encroaching on their habitats. I hate the human species some times.

well, nothing against you, but he isnt a pet. I am having fish and wildlife come get him out. I don't want him to loose his fear of us because then he will be killed. Right now he's afraid of us.. it makes him a very good candidate for relocation. But I agree he is very cool to have around, but I have 2 small children to look out for too.

I agree with your concern as having family and it being your pool. No doubt relocation is needed to be done in your situation.

Please be aware that more than likely that gator will be destroyed. Nuisance gators aren't usually relocated. He's cute, and I sure hope I'm wrong.

FWC does not normally come and move nuisance gators. They call a licensed trapper, who gets "paid" for his work by being able to sell the hide. I think there is a minimum size they will consider a nuisance for removal - either 4' or 5', I think. I haven't really researched it, though.

You can probably find more info on their site: http://myfwc.com/

Good luck!
