injured e. king

While I was on vacation I left my eastern king with someone else for a few months. He took good care of him but my snake had a bad shed and he did not know to remove the piece of skin stuck around the tail tip.

The tail tip appeared it had been constricted after I took of the piece. Later, it started bleeding mildly. Should I do anything about this, or just let the snake's body heal itself?

put some Neosporin on it after a quick drizzle of peroxide. You don't want it to get worse than it is, and this will help make sure it doesn't.

You may have set evolution back thousands of years! A dozen or so more sheds and that left skin may have started to rattle. Ain't that how rattlesnakes evolved?
Just jokin' - hope all turns out well.

If you were gone a couple of months, I would guess this isn't its first bad shed in your friends care. If you could post a pic, that would be EXTREMELY helpful. First thing I would do is soak the snake in a rubbermaid container filled about 1/2" with warm water for about 45 minutes before even attempting to take the partial shed off. It will be a tedious process I know, but you have to get the old skin off first. For right now, clean the wound, and keep the cage clean. Use newspaper for substrate, use neosporin, (only on the affected area because its petroleum based and won't let the dried skin absorb moisture) and good luck. Steve
