Almost hatching on first clutch...

JLballs Jun 29, 2010 10:49 AM

This is my first clutch of eggs and i just want to see if anyone has some advice for me, its day 55 right, all but 1 are sinking in, im just wondering if there are any signs that i can look for if they need to be slit or if it is just up to me when and if i want to? I have them at 88.8 degrees and in vermiculite only (no perlite)

Wait til day 60, if they haven't pipped, cut them!

I would leave them until...

The box starts "sweating"... builds up moisture and you can pick up an egg and feel the spine of the baby pushing back against the egg wall.... then if you must you can open the egg.

The eggs did go through a "sweating" phase days 47 - 49 the box was builing up condensation but has stopped now.

There going to hatch soon, just sounds like they maybe alittle on the wet side. They won't dent much if its to moist and Amniotic fluid will pour out. There going to pip soon if not already.
