black pine snakes

crocacutus Jun 29, 2010 06:57 PM

I own an e. king and might get another snake this year, I saw a black pine once and thought it was awesome. Any advice on care? I would like a snake that does not require too much heat. Are pine snakes like e. kings in that they are hardy temp-wise? Should I expect feeding issues? How about tractability?

I don't know if they are as hardy temp-wise, I'd think easterns can handle higher temps. I keep mine at room temp, no extra heat (mid to high 70s). Feed them smaller meals that you would a king and they will do fine.

Pines are known to be hissy animals, but rarely bite. One of my black pines will strike, but not bite.
