Of your list, black rat or mangrove. They are more black than indigos or pines They're big and impressive, and will give you a good run for your money if you try to pick them up. If you ask me, a hissing, 6-foot obseleta is about as impressive you can get.
crocacutus
I say spend the money and go for the indigo, or even black pine!! Both are VERY large and beefy, and good ones are just as black as a black rat. Bigger in general than black rats, and definitely more bang for the buck if you get one with attitude!! Think about it, a full grown indigo can easily crush a VERY large rat to death in its jaws and break bones!! Thats the way to play IMO!!! Both are good eaters in general as well, and actually both have decent personalities.

You are making me a little jealous. Although I've got a lot of rats on and around my property, they have all been the humdrum mottledy-grey obsoleta spiloides -- none of the nice black obsoleta obsoleta. They still have the size and the attitude, though!

Black milk snake. They get up to 5 or 6 feet (maybe larger). Start as tri-color, then turn jet black. See Dniles posts in the milk snake forum, then go to his website for some good pics.

If you don't mind selling your house to get it, I remember a few years back that one of the big breeders had at least one totally black reticulated python...

What goes up must come down...unless it exceeds escape velocity.
Yes, that was Bob Clark's Burmese. It really isn't quite SOLID black per se, but it is definitely very hyper-melanistic with the pattern just being discernable.
Very unique indeed!

Mangrove are rear fanged with non life threatening but non trivial venom. If you're not experienced with snakes may not want that.

yeah. I mean, it won't kill you (unless you've got a sensitivity) but it sure as hell doesn't look fun from the bite photos I've seen. pretty though.
