Hatchling dehydrated?

CEballpythons Jun 29, 2010 07:26 PM

So one of my little pieds finally crawled out of his egg. With every other ball python I've ever hatched out their skin looked smooth as can be, and this little guy is wrinkled and looks dehydrated. He also has a tiny bump where his umbilical was, and there was a small amount of yolk still in his egg. Is it possible for a hatchling to be dehydrated? Should I do anything? Humidity in the incubator has been at 75-85%. I have this guy in his new home now, any suggestions on where I should aim for for humidity?

Also:

The white of his pattern is almost... pink. But I think I remember pics of hatchling balls that look like this.

On the up side, he/she has a PERFECT image of cellular mitosis right on his/her back. It's amazing! Pics soon.

the pink is normal for a little while with pieds anyway as for being dehydraited ive not really heard of this fresh out of the egg but a little warm soak wont hurt! & may even help i have seen them come out that way before though. tough to say without pics i cant picture how dehydraited he/she looks but it may just be a case of being a few days early! hopefully it will be fine! regards
