After egg laying, when is it safe to re-introduce to male

VTEC May 25, 2003 11:20 PM

My female laid an egg today and I was wondering when it would be OK to have her housed with a male. It's a different male that had impregnated her so will that make him want to 'do his thing' too or what.

As long as they get along you can keep them together 24/7...and yes, if he is of breeding age, he will "do his thing" with her also.
So be expecting more eggs if this is what you want to do.
Good luck,

Well it is "safe" to have a male in with breeding females anytime as long as they are quarantined and healthy. You do know that this is just her first egg and she will probably keep laying more throughout the season. Yes the male will likely mate with her. However if I were you I wouldn't put her in with a different male this season because then you won't know who the father of a given baby is, does not make for good recordkeeping...
