Tricolor Hognose Cohabitate?

arkanis Jul 01, 2010 02:53 PM

I have a couple of hatchling false coral snakes - they are currently in shoeboxes with paper towel substrate and hide box. I would like to prepare a nice enclosure for them with coco substrate and a couple of fake plants

1. is this a good idea?

3. how can i create a "pampas" like environment for them? - any ideas from terrarium enthusiasts out there?

After doing some more reading and learning about hognose in general (slim pickings about tricolor hawgs) i am thinking that it would not be a good idea to keep the hatchlings together - probably the big female would devour the little atypical male.

Also, I decided on their early caging - for now i kept them in shoeboxes with water bowls, a rubbing stick and coco half hides stuffed with a moist paper towel -- also on their paper towel substrate i ripped several little holes into it with a knife which they seem to love rooting around in

I am modifying a 10 gal tank with a separator in it of plexiglass, subsurface heater in the center which they share for digestion, and coco substrate, coco half hide, water bowl and rubbing stick.

That should make them happy then i can keep the rubber boas in the shoe boxes.

Cheers ~
