Question(needs to be answered by tonight)

khalliaar Sep 23, 2003 05:52 PM

My little bp was fed 2 hoppers yesterday and the second one fought a little more and ended up biting him. I looked at the bite for a second yesterday to make sure it wasn't too bad but I didn't want to disturb him to much then. I'm going to look at it again later. My problem is I'm going away tomorrow morning and will not be back until sunday, so I can't watch him. My sister will be looking after him while I"m going. I was wondering if she should be looking for infection or doing anything to the bite. I saw at least one scale was lifted some, but the mouse never really got the chance to sink his teeth in deep seeing as how he was already being suffocated. I'm worried that something will happen when I'm gone so any help will be greatly appreciated.

If there is no visible wound and you are only leaving for a couple of days, I would not worry too much. If you are really concerned, you could dab a bit of peroxide on the wound, dry it and then dab a bit of Neosporin.

As for the injury, I agree with Jmartin, use the peroxide and neosporin and you should be fine. In the future I would suggest killing the mouse/rat before you feed it to your snake or just buy them frozen and thaw them in hot water. You will bypass any chance of your snake getting bit. Good luck, Scott.
