I have a 6 month old Peruvian red tail that i fed and he regurgitated his mouse...i have a 7 foot female that has done this and she went off feed for almost 3 months and just started eating again..when should i try and feed him again?

When a snake regurges it is usually best to treat it like it just had a meal. Wait 4 or 5 days before you even think about offering him food again but 7 would be better. Check your temps with a temp gun and make sure they are not too cold. If your temps are dialed in make sure they are not stressed out. We use covers on a lot of our 4ft cages just to make their whole cage a hide. They seem to really relax more and sprawl out a lot more after this. Hope this helps.

I would wait 7-14 days before feeding just to let the boa recover and heal any stomach damage from the regurge. As has been suggested, make sure your temps are proper with a good temp gradient as boas will seek heat and cooler areas at times. Too much heat can also make a BCC true redtail regurge, especially a young one. Though Peru BCC are not known to have the regurge problems like young Surinames, I have had very good results feeding my young BCC small food items for the first year or so. Since your boa regurged I would recommend feeding amaller food for a while. Bill

There is a chance it is too HOT. Background cage temp needn't be any more than 82F. Hot spot needn't be over 90F. NO bright lights or basking lamps. Adequate humidity and fresh water.

Wait 10 t0 14 days before feeding again. Small meal.

Just MY opinion.

yeah thanks for the advice..cage temps are fine and normal i just changed his food size meal before last to adult mice and he was eating 3 fuzzies so i fed 2 adult mice maybe that was what caused it..

I would say that is your problem. 3 fuzzies to two adults is too big of a jump. Also with two food items covered in hair sometimes they will throw the second one up after almost complete digestion. We have seen animals eat two items, digest one completely, defecate it and then regurge what looks like a fur ball. Just too much hair. IMO Anyway, I think too much food is the problem. Give him one adult mouse for at least a month and see how that goes. Hope this helps.

appreciate all the advice i am new fairly new to boas i have kept ball pythons for about 4 years now and never had a regurgitation...just worried me

Though BCC like your Peru boa are the largest of boas, they grow more slowly than BCI boas and do not have the high metabolism of pythons. Small food items and slow growth is best. Bill.
