markp33 Jul 03, 2010 07:49 PM

Does anyone know if it is legal shipping western hognoses via UPS to Canada? Does anyone have any experience doing it?

W. hogs are not CITES listed, but I still think you need export/import permits. Maybe someone else with more info will chime in. If not, contact U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service.

Shipping internationally (even to Canada) can be tricky.

Best of luck,
Chris

We can not ship outside of the US without an import/export license... I have one but you would need to have an import licence on your end as well...

What can be done in your case if you do not have an import license is a US breeder can ship your snake to a UPS hub in boarder State nearest to your location in Canada on the US side and you can then cross the boarder, pick up your package, then cross back over... It would be a good idea to claim your package at customs so they can inspect it...

I have shipped to customers many times in Canada with no issues this way... Depending on how big the pacages is and the amount of animals are in it, you may have to pay duties and inspection fees in some cases on the Canadian side... Only happened to one of my customers one time...

Hope this helps...
