Quick question

If you breed an F1 to an F2, are the babies considered F2 or F3? How does that work? Thanks.

I'm not sure, but I think they would be F3's.

I suppose to be true to the terms f1= wc X wc, f2= f1 X f1, f3=f2 X f2....

I have some locality snakes that are wc x f1, and I just call them locality. If someone wants to know the background, I explain that they are wc X f1.

Technically wc x f1=(equals)f2. Claiming f2 to be locality...shaky. We had a discussion to determine at what point locality is lost, FR and I agree beyond f3. Because of this its important to represent your offspring properly.

If wc X f1= f2 AND f1 X f1= f2, it is obviously more accurate to give the actual background of each parent rather than just call them f2s. It's definitely a matter of opinion at what point you can still call something a locality snake, but I think very few would argue whether wc X f1 is still locality.

I agree that there a lot of lines that descend from locality collected stock, that no longer accurately represent the locality.

Thanks guys. I was thinking along the same lines as explaining what the parents are. I just wanted to be sure there was nothing I was missing. Thanks again.

If WC x F1= F2 then F1 x F2 should = F3

If this is not the original WC that produced the F1, then you have a new F1. Any 2 unrelated animals produce F1, not necessarily WC.

Why is locality considered lost after F3?
