tom got eggs need help aggression.

argus333 Jul 05, 2010 06:51 AM

i finally got good eggs last sat after 2 yrs of trying... i removed the eggs and they are sitting nicely in the incubator but the female is still so aggressive!!!! i have lots of visual barriers but the female goes out and finds the male and attacks him. my cage is like yours tom with a second level and shell go up there and just start bitting him bad. i really dont want to come home to a missing eye or tail or something should i separate them at all or just let it work itself out? how long can it take? also how long between clutches female is doing great looks good slightly thinner but eating and drinking great. cage is 14 ft x 12ft. thanks guys and the video is great tom keep it up.

Either take the male out for about a week or put up a piece of ply wood in the corner with the male on the other side for about a week. once she stops guarding her nest she should go back to mormal.

Leave them together. They will sort it out and it's part of the process. If you seperate them you'll have bigger problems reintroducing them. It is a NATURAL BEHAVIOUR so don't worry about it. If a toe gets nipped so what. If you want to breed Cyclura every year LET THE LIZARDS BE LIZARDS...thanks

Once the natural incubation time of the eggs is near she will stop defending the nest area. Sometimes she will stop after 30 days or so but it depends on the lizard...thanks
