TWO striped low white pieds

Chad_Ramsey Jul 05, 2010 09:49 AM

Well the other one finally came out, and is also a low white striped pied. Kinda wanted at least one with white, but oh well.

BUT this begs the question about pied genetics. If i breed the same het pied parents will they produce more low white pieds?

Those are 2 awesome pieds. I normally like the medium whites myself, but those are killer. So it was a het x het breeding? How many eggs were laid. I have a 6 egg het x het clutch cooking now, but its still 30 days out. Congrats Chris Hall

Nice Chad! More and more people are wanting low whites for crosses. Where those from the Stuck pair? Remember, my Stuck female threw CONGRATS buddy!

Man!--Those are cool!!

congrats....cool snakes.....

as for genetics...it has to be proven for each snake I think as to what happens with color and pattern.....I bred het to het a few times and get pieds that are like 25% or more white to 70 % white...usually 50 50 or so.....this year I bred pied to hets and got pieds that are alot more white.....one 50% maybe and the other 7 are like 70 to 90% white....pattern is better also ....

so ,good luck and back breed them and see what happens >/>??? lots of people like low white pieds....

They are really cool. I love their orange flames (or burn outs...don't know what to call it, they aren't really flames, but more of really neat orange fade). I'd be willing to bet that the same pairing would produce low whites.

Just my own guess, but I think the pied gene is like incomplete dominance or something where you get an animal that carries high, med or low. And depending on the mate, you get an intermediate. Maybe you have hets that both carry low. If the hets were bred to different mates, I'd bet you'd get different results. Just my guess...no data or breedings to back that up

Very nice looking striped pieds! Are they male and female or what? If they are, I would breed them back to each other to see if they have some cool pied babies! If they are not, I would also breed them back to the parents. Do the parents have any kind of striping going down their backs? Can you show pics of the parent? I am very excited, I am working on some mojave & sable pied projects! GOTTA LOVE PIEDS PERIOD!!!!!! Thanks, Bob

Thought i would chime in to say congratulations on proving out the pair of hets you bought from me. It is nice to see that people really like the pattern you got as well as the amount of white. I tend to prefer 50% or more but those two are very nice.
let me know if you get any females you dont need i might be interested. Keep me posted when you produce more.
