Litter #1 - F1 Hypo Harlequins

tcdrover Jul 05, 2010 05:15 PM

This is my first litter for this season. There are around 22
healthy neonates, there were 3 still born boas and 5 slugs.

The momma boa was nice and calm. I had to practically stuff the
rat in her mouth afterwards.

Great looking litter. Do you have individual pics of the parents? Harlequins are amazing if you have the real deal. Those look good brother. Lots of nice aberrancies in there. Were both pure harlequins?

Thanks, I was secretely hoping to find a patternless baby in
that pile.

I got the male from Mr. Harlequin himself. The female came from
a reputable breeder here in S FL. They almost look like twins.

The male is a very nice animal. He's very red, the mother is lighter with very light sides & opaque eyes. It looks like most
of the babies got those light, opaque eyes. This is both of them.

Damn that is one big male. I imagine you are referring to Tim Magee. We get easily confused as the Magee brothers both had a huge hand in the harlequin project. Did you get the female from Stuart by chance? Those babies are going to look great. What years are those two beauties? I was just thrown off by the F1 label.

They're both kind of small. Maybe he looks bigger because
they are similar in size.

The male is around 5 feet and the female is a little bigger but
not much. She's the smallest female I've bred. This is her 2nd
litter.

She's was born in 2006. I got her from Adam C. The male is younger I got him from Tim M. I'm hoping that the male also got
a big f4 hypo pastel female pregnant. This was actually the 2nd
female I put him with. It's weird she was the last one but she gave birth first.

Isn't that the male from Tim and mine's breeding loan? I could swear that's one of my kiddos (which makes me a great grandma now? lol). If so, he's an '06 as well and mom is Zahara. I have pics of both parents if you need them.

Awesome harli babies!!

Yep, I thought he was younger. I've got pics of your boa, that sweet looking rescue, but I'm not sure if I've seen his father.

I'm hoping he was able to seal the deal with my other hypo as
well. I want to keep some of these & I'm not sure about line
breeding them.

I think the supers are easy to spot. There are some neonates that
are much lighter and redder than others. I'm right about to split
these guys up and put them in tubs. I'll post some pics of the
better looking ones later. C-ya, grandma-maw.

Your male was born 6/20/06, in a litter of 18, no slugs, no stills.

I know you've seen Zah's pic before (heck, who hasn't, I post it all the time!) but just to put all the pics in one post..

Here are the grandparents of this litter from the sire's side.

Zahara, my high pink rescue boa:

Hypo Harli male from Tim Magee:

The mother of Tim's male, an F2 harli from Tim's '97 harli A litter (this pic is owned by TIM)

I think it's pretty cool that they can be traced back to the original litter, so I hope you enjoy that bit of trivia as well.

Talk about an awesome family tree! at least I think so. lol

Can't wait to see the post shed pics of your harli litter! I see some serious smokers in there and it's really got me excited to see what my keepers from that litter produce. One of the brothers to your male bred my big albino this season, waiting to see if it took.

Congrats again on a stunning litter!!
