Couple newbie questions

joann42 Jul 05, 2010 06:54 PM

I know this is mainly a breeders board but need a few questions answered.

Im thinking about getting a Suriname.I need to know how big a male would get, as in length and approx weight(I just need an average)?
Im thinking the males stay smaller?
Also how much difference in temperament as compared to a BCI?

Another question, I have a hypo bci,she was very light with lots of pinks and oranges but she is turning a chocolate brown with pink tones, like milk choc. cherry. Is this the trend as they get older? She is pretty either way but just curious how much she will change?
Thanks for your time.(I would love to get a longicauda, the really dark ones are just awesome but I dont think they are in my spending range and I know nothing about them)

Captive born Surinames are just as mellow as any other boa.
How big they grow depends on how much you feed them and how much space you give them. Most people raise Suris slow. I would say 8 ft. would be a rather large Suri male. Would be a rather slender snake, compared to a female.
Others that know better than me can comment.

I read one thing that said they get 12ft, the females that is.Is that just one of those rare things?.I cant have a snake that big, i dont have the room.I think I may skip the suri and just stick with columbians.Too bad I love the way they look.
Maybe I can find a nice Anery to go with my dh ghost.
