Ideas on very large cage build

blueta Jul 06, 2010 09:15 AM

I'm looking for ideas on building a very large vivarium for a pair of green tree pythons. I was looking at cages by design but they are way out of budget and I figure I can build something that's pretty nice looking and the same size for a lot less. The dimensions I'm thinking are 48" wide, 60" tall, and 24" deep.

As far as materials I want to use plywood, coated with either drylok or possibly fiberglass. I would also like to use a sliding glass front.

I have no idea on what thickness of the materials or which is the best way to frame it out. Any help with this will be greatly appreciated. Thanks!

I'd use 3/4".
As far as framing it, you don't really need a frame. Thats what the plywood is for.
Some dado's, glue and screws will get you a nice sturdy solid cage
