She is a she! like I was saying in a earlier post....if the spines aren't blue all the way down the back it is just a hybrid(not a LEWISI HYBRID)!

Really Jul 08, 2010 04:48 PM

Oops. Sorry on the gender.

Guess my girl is "just a hybrid", though the other day, when she was out her spines were all blue. I've never seen them all blue any other time though.

no worries on the gender.

I am not trying to be mean about other hybrids out there, I just feel the term lewisi hybrid is thrown around loosely. I can only think of 3 maybe 4 people that know the history on there animal's, yet they call them lewisi hybrids. Seems a little misleading when they don't know the history of there animal's.

I am also not putting down your iguana, she? is attractive.

Honestly, I didn't take it that way or think you were being mean. I really don't care what she is, other than the fact that she's awesome.

I wish I could find out the history of my girl. I know she is one of David Blair's and I have her clutch number, but because I'm not her original owner I've never been able to get any information about her. I admire the way David Blair respects the privacy of his clients, but I'm not trying to get information about who purchased her, only about her genetic background. I personally feel that whoever gave her up pretty much lost any rights they had to her when they relinquished her to the reptile society from who I adopted her.

She's supposed to be a cross between C. nubila, C. nubila caymanesis, and C. lewisi and she does show colors of all three. One thing I've noticed about some of the Blair crosses, Kismet included, is that they have really short spines. Which species does that come from? Any ideas?

The one thing I noticed about your girl more than anything is how long her spines are.

Thanks, It is a female though.

Well SHE is a beauty!

Just wondering if you could clairify... if it's showing blue colors doesn't that mean it has at least some Lewisi blood in it so it could be considered a Lewisi hybrid? Or are you saying that if it only has a small percent of Lewisi and more Cuban, for example, that you would call it a "Cuban" Hybrid?
