Looking goooooood....................

JKruse Jul 07, 2010 11:12 PM

Egg laying has pretty much wrapped up for this year. 9 clutches in all, and anticipation is afoot. Now to fatten up everyone ebfore shut-down commences in the next couple months. Just have to love snakes out of a fresh shed, and I caught these two today looking mighty fine and ready to eat.

Santa Ana zonata pulchra (sired 8 good eggs laid last week)

Santa Cruz zonata multifasciata (sired 11 good eggs laid 4 weeks ago)

With all the feedings/cleanings there just hasnt been enough time to take any good photos, but hatch time will be a different story I hope. Looking forward to getting the adults into the cool MUCH earlier as of this year. With the heat wave here in the Northeast, the AC has been running non-stop to keep the snakes from overheating during the day while we're at work. As much as I love the summer heat, I can imagine the electric bill coming my way soon. Oyyy!!

Hopefully heat will break Sunday for the White Plains show. Good luck with all the eggs.

Hey, Don't forget to post some pics of those Christmas Mountanin Splendida when you get a chance.

JKruse Jul 07, 2010 11:33 PM

is that i don't have photos of their parents Bob......is that what you were looking for by any chance? Or additional pics of the ones i'm raising up? Hope I can help, and they really are super nice splendida to boot. In order to capture just how bright their yellow is I'd have to photograph them outside. I've had so little time lately, but i will try. This Sunday is my wife's birthday, so I may take the high road to enlightenment and pass on attending the WP show. (Translation: Jerry's whipped and he knows what's good for 'em)

The second one seems to show their yellow better.

Yes , I was just talking about the babies. They are awesome looking. Sometimes better to skip a show and have a happy home Dude. Can't spend all your time cleaning cages. LOL

Jerry, those are unbelievable! I love splendidas such as yours!

Thanks man, they are really cool snakes. Big babies they were, so I'm anticipating monsters in another year or so. All these years and I've never had/bred splendida, but always liked 'em. Good thing I held out for these beauties.

How is their "tude" ? Easy going?

JKruse Jul 08, 2010 05:48 PM

with weekly minimal handling, not too bad. Still get the wanna-be rattler thing, but hopefully that will disappear over more time.
